IS LONG FIELD PRACTICE!
This is supposed to be one of the most exciting weeks in PC training. I will be going to Altos, about an 1.5 hr drive from the Villeta area (it is located directly east of Asuncion). I´ll also be taking side trips to Pirayu and Atyra. Everytime I tell a Paraguayan I am visiting Atyra they light up and say, ¨OH la mas limpia ciudad de Paraguay!¨–the cleanest city in Paraguay!

While there, I´ll essentially practice being a volunteer. I´ll live with a family, and participate in the activites led by a current volunteer in site. Four other trianees will be going as well, plus a language teacher and a technical trainer.
Let´s see…the volunteer works at a library. So we´re going to conduct a scavenger hunt for children to locate information on the internet and in books. She also leads a photography project called Ahecha, which was a former PCVs initiative to put cameras into the hands of children and youth so that they could learn a creative skill and share their experiences through art. At the July 4 embassy celebration there was an Ahecha exhibit on display with some impressive images from all over Paraguay. We´ll also be leading a leadership and civic education charla, and teaching a couple of English classes.
I´m also really stoked to visit these places because I heard Atyra is an artisen community. I´ve heard there are shoemakers…
